Slowing Down Natually
We see signs everywhere we look. Signs are society's primary means of "exposing ourselves" and our goods and services to each other. Today the most innovative advertising signs and billboards are an extraordinary exploration of electronic, neon and laser technology that flash messages, give us the time of day, latest stock prices as well as a total assortment of goods and services that anyone could think of or possibly need. The most simple and direct signage is meant to help us locate business zones, community facilities and rest areas with the desperately needed pit stop.
There are bright colored traffic warning signs with light sensitive and reflective surfaces to guide us around unexpected obstacles, dangerous roadway conditions or perilous emergency situations that distract drivers attention. On 12th street this speed limit sign appears serendipitously positioned to remind us we also share our roadways with much smaller creatures. Some of those are being forced to leave the now disappearing greenbelt habitat areas. The sign could also be suggesting that we need to slow down to truly consider Mother Nature in all future development plans.
When we reach out and embrace our neighbors we see pictures that enhance everyday life in our own international community.
